33120A output is non-zero following burst

I've recently started using a fairly elderly HP 33120A that belongs to a colleague, and I'm using it to generate bursts of square wave output. Ideally, I would use burst mode for this but I suspect there is a fault with the unit that means that the output does not return to zero after the burst as I would assume it should. E.g., if I output a 10 Vpp squarewave burst, following the burst (which works as expected), the output is (randomly) either +5 V or -5 V. Has anyone come across this type of behaviour before? (I'm currently working around it by using an external gating box for the signal but it's a bit of a bodge!)
