Hi,
I am unable to communicate with 53132A Universal counter via USB-GPIB converter (GPIB-USB-HS) .
The instrument (53132A) doesn’t get detect with both “Keysight connection expert” and with “Agilent connect expert version 15.5.13009.1” as well.
- The USB to GPIB converter (GPIB-USB-HS) is working fine and able to communicate with other instruments (like Agilent E3640A DC power supply, 34970A Data acquisition/switch unit etc.)
- GPIB address in 53132A is set as 5 and also tried with different addresses between 0 & 30.
- I tried with different counter also (53131A), this too doesn’t detect and unable to communicate
- Tried with "Excel intuilink for counter", but the instrument was not detected
- I am using windows 7 OS.
Please suggest how can i communicate with 53132A from PC for data logging.
Thanks,
Tarani Chaitanya
This may be a common problem with older instruments that don't respond to *IDN?.
If you don't see the instrument model you expect, there may be something unidentified at the expected address.
Right click on it and select Edit, then uncheck the box next to "Auto-Identify This Instrument".
Then you can check IO to it with "Send commands to this instrument" using commands you know it understands.
Like the 8510 doesn't respond to *IDN?, but sending "OUTPIDEN" and then reading the reply gets the same identity info.
