I have tried to find out used material information about X/K/R11644A waveguide calkit's. Is the used material aluminium or something else?
The X11644A and P11644A are both aluminum. I don't know about the K11644A or R11644A.
Thanks Dave! That was my thought too. I just need this material information in one program. Aluminium DC conductivity is then 36.9x10E6 Siemens/m?
Well, I doubt it is made from pure aluminum. I think items are generally machined from alloys, so I have no idea what the DC conductivity would be.
I recently had some quarter wave shims & shorts made in aluminum, but also one in tool steel, which was hardened once made. A customer wants to put materials inside it, then be able to remove them. The tool steel is very hard, so a file will not touch it.
Usually the material used for X/K/R11644A is aluminium (not sure if it's pure though as I suspect it would be too soft) indeed. But I have heard of possibilities of using other metals. One that is apparently compatible is steel hardened by boronizing w/ borocoat. Pretty sure that not any and every steel grade is suited for this though. But I'd love to see someone try it so we will know more
