As Im having lots of fun trying to get the two 4440 machines working my trusty 8584E has decided to throw in the towel as well now. I did the normal cal testing and it's saying the RES BW AMP FAIL. Srq 110.
What do I need to adjust to get it in cal again?
Hi swifty1956,
You might find helpful the service guide for the 8590 series analyzers. On page 626, the guide gives some troubleshooting hints for your calibration error. Unless you have a good idea of what assemblies are causing the problem already, I would recommend going through the crystal and LC bandwidth filter adjustments described on pages 49 through 57. While going through these procedures it should become clear where the problem exists in your analyzer. If you're lucky, there may be a pot you can simply adjust to put the filters into spec. Otherwise you may have to replace one or more components from the A11 and/or A13 assemblies. These components are mostly through-hole soldered, so if you can find replacement parts the soldering procedure will be fairly straightforward.
If you wish to have one of our expert service technicians repair your instrument, extended service is available for the 8594E.
