Note

This example is for STM-16 (2.5 Gb/s). It will be different at other STM data rates.

- Region A
- All 1s: 1111…11 (72 bits from G.957)

- Region B
- Pseudo-random ½: this means ½ mark density i.e. equal number of ‘1’s and ‘0’s. you can use any of the standard PRBS sequences available in the BERT, minimum size is 2000 bits (from G957 II.2)

- Region C
- All 0s: 0000…00 (72 bits from G.957)

- Region D
- Nx: 10101010 (from G.957)
- A1: 11110110 (from G.707)
- A2: 00101000 (from G.707)
- C1: – From G957 – consecutive binary numbers e.g. 00000001, 00000010, 00000011 etc.

Let’s suppose you want to make an STM-16 (2.488 Gb/s) CID pattern. The pattern would be:

Section D:

48 x A1

48 x A1 means 48 repetitions of frame word A1. The value of A1 is 11110110 binary or F6 hexademical

In hexadecimal 48 x A1 would be F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6 F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6 F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6F6

In binary 48 x A1 would be 11110110 11110110 11110110 etc

In the diagram from the standard NxA1 means N repetitions of hexademical word A1. N is an integer that depends on the data rate e.g.
