If we use external clocks with the N4962 for both PG and ED parts, can we run them at different data rates?

When using the error detector in Keysight N4962A Serial BERT 12.5 Gb/s: According to the user guide (section 3.5 page 29, page 30), it compared the incoming data bits with its own PRBS pattern which has the same setting as the PRBS generator used in pattern generator part.

If we use external clocks for both PG and ED parts, can we run them at different data rates? For example, using a 2:1 multiplexer after the PG to double the data rate and a 1:4 demultiplexer at the receiver before the ED? For example, for 10 Gbps data, running the PG at 5.0 Gbps and error counting at ED with 2.5 Gbps, both externally triggered with relevant clocks?
