How important is it to have the 34903A multiplexer cards calibrated?
The 34903A is not a multiplexer. It is simply a 20 channel form C switch. There is nothing to calibrate. You can only do a functional test. The 34901A/02A/08A are multiplexer modules which simply switch signals into the internal DMM one at a time to be measured. These modules have a thermocouple reference temperature sensor that should be checked periodically if you are doing thermocouple temperature measurements. It can only be verified whether it is returning the correct temperature or not. There is an adjustment procedure (calibration = verification + adjustment) in the service manual, but it has been found to be unreliable. There is a service note for this on the product Keysight web site. To do it properly would require a very expensive precision temperature bath, so Keysight service centers simply do the verification test and the module is replaced if it fails.
I am getting a lot of views. Can anyone help me out with my question? Thank you in advance
