i have a 8510C with a 83631A and a 8515A testset, now i got offered a 8517A testset which would get me to 50GHz, i also have a 83555A source module that covers 33-50GHz can i marry those together to get 50GHz coverage ?

Theoretically, you can do it if the source has the module interface (I think all 8360s had this). But you might have issues with the 8510 knowing what the available frequencies are or it might set the 83631A so that the 83555 doesn't work properly.
Of course, when the 83555 is connected, you would lose the low end of the frequency range, and the 83555 has much worse ALC range (only 8dB) than the 83631A (24-30 dB).
