Is there a DMM that can replace the 3458A that iws code compatible or has an emulation mode for that?

Question asked by uWHarry Employee on May 5, 2016

I have a system with three 3458A meters in it. But in the change from Windows XP to Windows 7, I have had problems with these meters being very fragile in terms of GPIB communication. I don't think we need the accuracy of the 3458A so I'm wondering if I change to another DMM (like 34470A) will I have to rewrite the library for the DMMs. From looking at the command reference I'd say definitely. But is there another (newer) meter that has command compatibility with the 3458A?
