Reflected wireless RF measurements

I have just been introduced to the device and I was wondering if it could help me do some experiment I am planning.

The baseline of the experiment is to send some wireless signal in the environment and measure the reflected wave back at the transmitter, then do some processing on the received signal to extract some information about the environment. I can do the processing offline so I am just stuck with getting the measurements.

I want to sweep frequencies from 1 to 2 GHz with the ability to measure the magnitude and phase of the received signal.
Can I do this using FieldFox RF Vector Network Analyzer N9923A? If so, can you please provide some guiding material?
