I'm using an E4438C arb source. I've set it up so that the waveform automatically retriggers, and I'd like to monitor via GPIB when the waveform retriggers. Is there any way to do that with markers or some status register?

In mode continuous (auto-retrig), I think it's not possible to receive information via GPIB when sequence restart, it's to fast. Max sample rate is 100MHz and minimum nb of points in segment is 60, total time for one sequence in this case will be 600nsec.
I thinks the only way is single shot mode if you must know starting time (for a control via GPIB).
In continuous mode, you may use marker 1 at output event1 connector and for example, a counter in totalize mode if you want to know the number of sequence ...we don't have enought detail of your application.
