I believe that the "adapter removal", described in application note 8510-13, which is an incredibly tedious process to take out the effect of adapters, has largely been replaced by unknown thru developed by Ferrero and Pisani

But does anyone know if the algorithm for adapter removal was ever published, or is it proprietary HP/Agilent/Keysight information? Googling only seems to find references to HP/Agilent/Keysight, but it might have been published in an IEEE journal or similar.
