I am trying to purchase a 53220A frequency counter, with a GPIB interface, but resellers seem divided on whether this is an optional extra or not. The ones that say it is, don't seem to list it as an option. Does anyone have a definitive answer for this?
Probably more information than you need, but here it is...
As of May 1, 2011 Option 400 (GPIB) became standard on all 53200A series counters. To upgrade a counter that does not have GPIB you can contact the Keysight Technical Contact Center (800-829-4444 hold and press 1 when prompted) and order 53200U-400. This GPIB upgrade kit is available for $0 and is customer installable. If you choose you can return your instrument and the kit to Keysight and they will perform the installation. Regional installation (labor) charges will apply. Attached is a copy of the installation instructions (pgs 7-8).
The fact that GPIB was once an option and is now standard, and cost of the upgrade kit being $0 often confuses distributors and resellers.
