How can one verify performance of VNA at low frequencies?

There's a lot of useful information in Joel's book about working out residual errors with an airline, computing uncertainties etc. With that method, one is making reference to diameters which have units of metres, which is an SI unit.  This is clearly possible at microwave frequncies where the airline is not electrically short (I assume it needs to be a half wave or more). 

But how would one do it at 10 MHz (wavelength is 30 m) or even less? The VNA function of the Agilent 4395A works to 10 Hz!! And in any case,  the usual formula for Zo of a coaxial transmission is not valid at low frequencies. 

PS, Bruno my German Shepherd dog, doesn't like Joel's book. He tried to rip it up, but it is still readable!
