53230A TCXO/OCXO short term accuracy with external reference

Question asked by Ole on Mar 2, 2015

I've read somewhere that the 53230A TCXO-version performs significantly worse than the OCXO-version, even when fed by an ultra low noise, ultra stable external reference. The lock-range of the TCXO and OCXO is different, so I suppose the internal PLL is somewhat different between the two versions. Have you done any tests either to confirm that both versions work equally well with external differences? Or, is it known that this is not the case? And finally, has there by any chance been a software-fix that would impact/improve this?

Thank you
