Does anyone know if the SN is hard coded in the unit? I am looking to purchase one that has a SN missing. Iwould like to ensure it is not stolen. Thanks to all!
Putting a new or different firmware version into the instruments clears all NVRAM data, including cal counter. I am not detailing how this is being done but this data is no proof at all.
On the other hand, the serial number is fixed to the frame. If the frame looks the same age as the instrument and is missing the sticker - I do recommend not to buy it. Even if it is not stolen, someone tangled with this instrument in an unprofessional manner. You don't want such an instrument, do you?
