I have a MSO4000x scope connected to a LAN. It is assigned a static IP on subnet X and is accessible (through the web interface and Agilent IO Control) from any PC also located on subnet X.
I want to access it from subnet Y. I asked our sysadmin for an exclusion in the subnet X firewall between the scope's static IP and my static IP on subnet Y. I can now access the scope's web interface without issue from subnet Y but the Agilent VISA software cannot find anything. The IT guy said he opened all ports/all traffic for this exception.
Can anyone with network experience suggest anything I should ask IT to check? What ports does VISA require to operate? Any settings on the scope I'm missing?
Thanks! Ed.

The TCPIP0::xxx.yyy.www.zzz::5025::SOCKET VISA address uses the socket protocol. You will need to open TCP port 5025.
The TCPIP0::xxx.yyy.www.zzz::INSTR0 VISA address uses the VXI-11 network protocol. The port used is dynamic and is generated from Windows ONC-RPC port mapper. The port usually starts at port 1024 and goes up from here. You will also need to open both TCP/UDP port 111 for the ONC-RPC port mapper.
