I have found a reference in the E4406A programming guide to some screen capture programming examples contained in a programming guide cd for E4406A made by Agilent a long time ago.
These files are still at Your FAQ site.
1)screen_e4406a_Dec03.exe
2)bintrace_e4406a_Dec03.exe.
Works great in gpib--but not lan.
Thanks
Hardy
Thanks for the heads-up!
I'll pass this on to my engineers -
Make sure the SCPI LAN server is turned on in the instrument. This is under the System -> IO Config menu.
Also, if you are having trouble communicating over LAN and are using NI VISA, I would recommend installing Agilent IO Suite on your PC.

I am using Agilent connection expert and works superb.
Trying to repair a E4406A for a friend-display and the 7 buttons right next to display wont work--otherwise it works great with external monitor.
As first step I try to communicate to it with telnet(scpi)-it works fine with commands like*rcl,*idn?config:spectrum config:acp. But when I try to manipulate ec.resolution bandwidth using sense: it always returns with an error -113 undefined header??
Dont know what to do next-except fixing the front panel!
Great to learn the CLIP for E4406A have been found---Super service.
Hardy
The command to change the resolution bandwidth in the spectrum mode should be SPEC:BAND
If the seven softkeys don’t work, then this could be a problem with the keyboard behind the front panel or with the front panel control board. Instruments with serial prefix US3 have a different front panel than newer E4406As that make them incompatible with different control voltages.
We may have a spare front panel to give to you. Email Keith and let him know if your serial prefix is US3 or US/MY4xxxxxxxx. Keith has offered to send you an old front panel for free.
Hope this upped this thread to "Super-Duper Service!"

Thanks for Your very kind help-all is working now---Your help(service)are just unbelieveably.
And Tabbott! this must be called-extreme super duper service!!
Besides-You mention the E4406A having excellent amplitude accuracy-close to power meters!Do You have any idea of the `real spec``-I know HP/Agilent/Keysight specs are very conservative.
Best Regards
