Hi -
A new aerospace and defense application note, "Using Fast-Sweep Techniques to Accelerate Spur Searches" is now available.
This fast sweep application note is also useful for other RF and microwave products, such as commercial wireless.

Enjoy!

Enjoy!
Full span sweep with 30k RBW still takes 34 s. sweep time
how do I get the 717 ms sweep time illustrated in the app note?
I have options B40, DP2 and MPB.
Thanks
john
The fast sweep capability illustrated in the application note was recently added to all new PXA signal analyzers.
All vintages of PXA signal analyzers contain the required hardware to support this new fast sweep capability. However this fast sweep feature is an enhancement, and requires Option N9030A-FS1 to be licensed on your instrument.
You can obtain the option FS1, fast sweep capability, by ordering N9030AK-R2C. See: http://www.home.agilent.com/en/pd-2022021-pn-N9030AK/revision-to-current-core-instrument-software-enhancements?nid=-33932.987523&cc=US&lc=eng
When you review this web page, you will notice that you also receive other enhanced measurement capability when you order Option R2C.

Couple suggestion:
1. Why the operator have to manually create each segment to avoid harmonics and sub harmonics form spurious measurement. Why not do that automatically? It should not be that difficult to implement that. That will simplified the operator life a lot.
So the spurious measurement function should have two additional option;
- Automatic avoidance of unwonted frequencies buy fundamental detection base on amplitude and calculation of harmonics and sub harmonics with defined order for each (default up to 10th).
- User defined fundamental from which the system will calculate harmonics and sub harmonics with defined order for each (default up to 10th)
I will still live the original user defined segment if the operator still need to use them.
2. Implement dynamic RBW adjustment base on position from fundamental, harmonics and sub harmonics to avoid phase noise effect , or measurement at lower frequencies.
