Hi.
The accuracy of internal timebase of N9020(with Option PFR) is about 1E-7, which is not high enough for my research. Can external timebase be used on N9020. Now, I have a rubidium clock, and it outputs 10MHz sine wave with accuracy of about 1E-11. Can it be used?
Thank you very much!

You can use an external reference on the N9020A MXA. On the back panel of the N9020A there is a Ref In port where you can supply the external reference. The N9020A will automatically sense the presence of the external reference and switch to this mode. You can also manually tell the N9020A to use an external reference (or internal reference, or to sense when an external reference is present) by pressing the Input/Output hard key, More 1 of 2 soft key, Freq Ref In, and then selecting External.
Note that the external reference of the N9020A does not have to be at 10 MHz. Page 74 of the N9020A specifications guide (http://www.agilent.com/find/mxa_specifications) states the following about the external reference: "Input Frequency - 1 to 50 MHz (nominal) (selectable to 1 Hz resolution)"
You can set the external reference frequency by selecting External Ref Freq while in the Freq Ref In menu (as mentioned above).
Please let me know if I can be of additional assistance.
Best Regards,
Scott
