vrf Agilent's update for Vrf archive status

Question asked by VRFuser on Oct 19, 2006
If the database contains ten years worth of Vrf posts then some work will be required to filter out the information that is still relevant, much of it must be for versions of Vee which are no longer in use, will the latest versions of Vee be able to open these files?

Perhaps for future use we could agree on a template/format for including keywords in post to make archiving posts easier.

e.g.

%INSRUMENT: <instrument1>,<instrument2>

Would identify which instruments are used in the example program posted. We could have similar keywords for the interface to identify programs using HPIB, USB or LAN etc. And application areas like FFT file manipulation etc. I suppose if these keywords were included in a Notepad object in the Vee programs it would allow better archiving of save programs.

Maybe something to consider for the next release of Vee – a program properties object.

Subject: [vrf] Agilent's update for Vrf archive status

Hello all,

Thanks for all your suggestions and comments on Vrf. Agilent IS listening to you. And Agilent IS very appreciative to Shawn’s contribution to Vrf.

We do have our own Vrf database archive dating back more than 10 years, but the server is within Agilent’s firewall. We are working with our IT department to open up our firewall for all Vrf users to access the database.

We believe that the strength of our Vrf is that we allow a free flow of idea exchange from anyone to everyone and that is why we maintained it that way.

Agilent wants to work with Shawn but we are not able to reach him at all. Whoever knows how to contact Shawn, please let him know that we are looking for him.

We have gone through a lot of ups and downs with Agilent VEE with all of you, and we want you to know that we truly appreciate your support for Agilent VEE

Thank you

Carol Leh
