Hello
I am trying to connect an E4406A to my pc via an NI-gpib-usb A converter. It works excellent with john miles ssm,but when I try to connect to my E4444A original software it fails.
Have searched all over Agilent and NI for an answer and found Agilent app note 5990-3731EN,and have done as explained.
Installed NImax and Agilent IOlibs 16 in side by side mode and enabled passport connection with tulip activated but cant connect to Agilent gpib and NI gpib.
Anyone have an idea whats going wrong??

The E4406A was never supported by E4444A. The Intuilink Toolbar for Signal Analyzer unofficially was able to grab screen captures from the E4406A. I’m not sure if that unofficial support was broken. We have some example programs for grabbing screen images from instruments at www.agilent.com/find/sa_programming. You would have to tweak the program for PSA to be able to work with E4406A, since the E4406A had a different command for grabbing screen images via SCPI.
Regarding using Agilent GPIB hardware with NI 488.2 compatible programs, there is a setting under the Agilent IO Suite to Enable GPIB card for 488 program. Click on Tool -> Agilent 488 and then check the checkbox to enable Agilent GPIB cards for 488 programs.
Another way to get screen images out of the E4406A is via FTP. You can save an image to the instrument’s flash memory and then FTP into the instrument with the user name: vsa and password: service.
