I'm trying to find out if its possible to an 85032B 6 GHz N calibration kit with an 8720D VNA. I've just bought such a calibration kit, so I am hoping it is possible. There are some inconsistencies in documentation which are making my life hard. Some versions of the 85032 are supposed to be supported in the firmware of my VNA, but they are not. Other versions of the 85032  are not supposed to be supported, but are in the firmware!

To be more specific.

1) The obsolete 6 GHz 85032B/E 50 Ohm N calibration kit is listed as "In F/W" for the 8720D at
but is *not* in my firmware, which is version 07.74.

So although I have bought an 85032B, its not clear how easy it will be to use.

2) The more modern (and expensive) 85032F 9 GHz 50 Ohm Type-N Calibration Kit is listed as "Not supported" at
and is not mentioned at

But the 85032F is in the firmware of the 8720D!

To say this is confusing is a bit of an understatement.

I was trying to determine the parameters of the 85032B from data at

with the hope of entering that in my 8720D, since despite the fact this model is reportidly in the firmware, it is not actually there.

I thought I'd be able to find a file for this cal kit, and read out the important data by eye. I can find a file for the PNA analyzer
so I thought I could just take those numbers.

Before enterng the numbers in my VNA, I thought it wise to check that this was sensible, so for a test I used data on another cal kit (85032F)  I can see two files for this. One for the PNA series

and another for the 8753D.

These two files have quite different values for the capacitances of the open, which seems odd, as I would have expected these vallues to be fixed and not change with different VNA versions.

Am I missing something?
