Betreff: RE: [vrf] [VRF] VeeServiceManager not working on first start

I had a problem with trying to update Antivirus files at boot-up from a Server on an isolated LAN. If the program ran after boot up was complete, there was no problem, so I decided it must be due to the intense process of booting up, therefore I needed a delay before calling the update program.

So I wrote a little program that uses .Net "System.threading.thread.sleep(mSec)".   I used Visual Basic Express 2008, however I'm sure it could be done in VEE as well.  I used 120000 milliseconds (2 Minutes) to give the boot-up process enough time to complete before for calling the update program.

Shawn, I think this would be right up your alley.  It'd be nice if it could use a command line input to include the path and filename of the program to run, to create multiple startup shortcuts if more than one program needs to be delayed, or a text file containing the programs to start.

Occam's razor1: Is the service set to start type "Automatic" instead of "On Demand"? May require dependent services (COM comes to mind). Check System log to find services that don't start for one reason or other.

Occam's razor2: Boot is an intense process. Maybe VeeSm.exe needs more time to start after the desktop appears?
