I just installed my new (to me) 8753E on my bench next to some of my other Agilent instruments with color LCD displays (Infiniium, ESA-E), and noticed that the display on the 8753E, although crisp and quite readable, is noticeably dimmer in intensity as compared to those of the other instruments. I've made sure that all of the intensity settings on the 8753E are at 100%.
Is this considered normal operation for the 8753E? If not, what can be done to address it? Thinking ahead, if it's the backlight that's getting dim, is it a part of the inverter assembly (A27) or the LCD display assembly (A18)?
Thanks,
Stan

you may look inside the analyzer to see if the backlight is bright white or more orange-ish. The backlight flourescent tubes are located on top and bottom of the LCD display. They are available from various vendors. So, just try a www search. To replace them, carefully remove the display unit and disassemble the strips on top and bottom of the display that contain the tubes. Order new tubes based on the dimensions of the old ones. Keep in mind that they are made of glass, so they are quite fragile.
I've replaced them successfully, just on a different instrument.
