vrf EA15 Datalogging thermocouple

I have been tasked with integrating an Extech EA15 datalogging thermocouple into a preexisting VEE program. This unit takes 2 thermocouples and dumps data through an RS232 port. Their tech support sent me the attached protocol; unfortunately I cannot make heads or tails of how to actually turn this into a usable command set (not alot of low-level programming skills). Extech does not support the low-level stuff (they have a simple prog for data collection) so I cannot call them for help. Can anyone set me on the path to redemption? I just need a very simple example, should be able to take it from there.

Thanks,
Todd Mayer
