Question about Sliding Load maintenance

Hi Experts,

When doing routine check of the sliding load included in the 85054B, we find that the DC resistance varies when sliding back and forth. The resistance reading changes from 0.2xx ohm to 1.1xx ohm. We suspect that is caused by the bad contact between the sliding block and the outer conductor (little oxidated, maybe). It's serious on an HP905A sliding load, which has an aluminium outer conductor and sliding block, could be more than 10 ohms.

Will that resistance seriously influence the calibration result? How could it be avoided?

Best regards
