vrf GPS testing

Question asked by VRFuser on Jan 25, 2008
Have you taken a look at the STR4500 (Price tag: $37,000.00) from Spirent? It is 12 Satellite solution that can be controlled through USB.
It comes with a PC and software (that can receive remote commands from a file, or IEEE-488, or TCP/IP, or Telnet, or RS232) that controls the unit. You can build your own scenarios on Spirent's website. Within a minute or so, you are given an FTP link to down the files (12MB files).
I use VEE to do evaluation/validation, Production, Temperature, and vibration Testing (Static and Dynamic) on our receiver.

Actually, Agilent have improved their software, and it now does 8 satellites.  Sorry Agilent!

However, I am told that the Agilent will only simulate 3 satellites, wheras the R&S does 8 (2 software personalities, each with 4 satellites).

You might take a look at the newer Agilent equipment. The boxes involved have VEE drivers, though it appears that the firmware itself would handle most of what's needed.

This from Agilent marketing:

"Agilent has a GPS application built for the E4438C high performance signal source.  Connectivity to the E4438C is through GPIB, RS-232, or LAN.
