FW: vrf Simple GPIB logging

Question asked by VRFuser on Nov 23, 2007
Hi,

You could activate file logging in the Bus I/O monitor, goto Properties and enable the File Logging (set it to TRUE), a new button will appear in the upper-right side of the IO Monitor to select the file to log the data. By enabling this, also appear new Add Terminal->Control input options. You could do logging that way and then read the file. I will write a sample next monday, my day has finished....

Hope it helps,

 Paco

Subject: Re: [vrf] Simple GPIB logging

I would like to create an event handler which will be activated whenever the GPIB is used, for logging traffic (for each GPIB transaction).

I cannot use the Bus IO monitor because:

1) I cannot re-format the text to be ‘readable’ and

2) I cannot put other items in the same log (comments, serial bus traffic, etc).

Does anyone know how to do this?

I used to do this with a GPIB printer set to "listen all" mode - back in the days when printers were GPIB.  You could make your own "GPIB printer" if you had another GPIB card that you set to monitor bus traffic.

Hmmm,  Might be easier to figure out how to reformat the Bus IO monitor...

~~Les
