Hello !
I have a question about Gain Flatness measurements. I have a coaxial delay line and need to measure a gain flatness between 2 and 2.2 Ghz over a temperatere range. The measurement needs to be .5 dB max.
Can this measurement be done on a 8753ES ?
If so, what is the setup procedure ?
Any help would be appreciated !

where I describe some of the problem and give a link to an Agilent white paper. I also indicate there are other ways to avoid this problem, namely:
The easiest alternative is to put the 8753 into step sweep mode; there are 3 ways to do this:
1) 30 Hz IF BW (goes to step sweep automatically)
2) Set sweep time to 15msec*num of points, goes to step sweep mode
3) Turn on source power calibration: For source power calibration, even if you have not performed a source power calibration acquisition (take cal sweep), the FW will think that it must use step sweep in order to step the source for every point, so that it may adjust the source power at each frequency. If you have not done a source power cal, the adjustment will be 0 dB (no change), and the source power cal indicator (PC) will show a question mark (PC?) to indicate that the source power cal take sweep has not been done. No problem though, just ignore this.
Note, this problem is really severe in the 8720 (since it sweeps much fast in terms of GHz/sec) so 8720 has an explicit stepped sweep mode, but for some reason we never got around to adding it back into the 8753.
Finally, you need a good 2-port cal. If your cable has the same connector on each end, we describe that as "non-insertable" and you must use a "swap equal adapter" or "adapter removal" technique to get a good 2 port cal to measure your low insertion loss.
What are the cable connectors, and what is the length of the cable?
