We think by “E-Series spectrum analyzers”, you are referring to the ESA-E or ESA-L series of spectrum analyzers, which would include models E4401B, E4402B, E4403B, E4404B, E4405B, E4407B, E4408B and E4411B. If that is the case, the battery replacement procedure is attached. The battery part number is 1420-0556.
It is possible that by changing the battery that some of the analyzer power on settings may be wrong. This is why Agilent recommends that the CPU Initialization is performed using the N7800A field software. More times than not however, the settings will be O.K., but just be aware that it is not a guarantee. So, after you change the battery and put the instrument back together, you will want to check the following items to be sure they are correct:
• Input Z
• Power on units
• Correct model number in the Show System
• Coupling
• Time
• Date
