During Matlab tcpip communication, screen went blank. No help in rebooting. During switch on, all lights go on then it goes silent and wakes up itself after ~5secs. No luck with Agilent Connection/Command Expert. Help !
I'm sorry, but there's not enough information to tell what's happening, or to tell you how to fix it.
- Has it stayed blank through multiple reboots? - If you connect an external monitor to the VGA output, does that show anything? - What version of Scope SW? - Is this the first time you tried to do TCP/IP connection to this scope?
I doubt that there's any connection between the TCP/IP communication and the dark screen. It may have just failed at a bad time.
Hi algoss, Thank you for the quick response. * I switched it off, unplugged everything and *bold* tried several boots *bold* . The same behaviour. (When I press the power on switch, lights blink->fans go on for ~2 secs and then it goes silent for ~5 seconds and powers itself back ..... then it stays blank. ) * Have not connected external monitor. Will try that tomorrow. ( Thought about it but since it doesnt show up in Agilent Connection Expert, didnt bother with.) * I am not aware of the scope software. I send VISA commands like :DIG, binblockread, fread via matlab -> Agilent VISA. * Have been working for the past 3 weeks without any hiccups. That is what I puzzles me too, couldnt be killed by a few tcpip strings........ I pray there be some switch/command that I can reset it and restore back to as it was. :(
Remember that the scope is a PC, running a Scope Application.
Connection Expert will just tell you whether the Scope Application is running, not whether the PC is booting. Try pinging the scope, if you know what the address was.
Is it's still under warranty, you can send it back for repair. If it's not, and it were mine, I would remove the covers and wiggle every PC-type connector that I could get access to, then try to power it up again.
I don't think the TCP/IP traffic had anything to do with your problem. It sounds like a more profound failure.
