User Defined/Modifying Cal Kit on HP8753ES

I have a 3.5mm cal kit with different coefficients than the standard kit on the analyzer. I thought It would be a simple matter of modifying the cal kit with the new values which need to be input by hand (not on floppy). However I cannot make it work even after extensive reading of the manual. It seems very simple; I modify the open sand save it, I modify the short and save that, repeat with the load and thru. But if I go back and check the open, its offset value changes to that of the short. I have tried various ways of inputting the values and saving at different times but the values keep switching to whatever I input most recently.
What is annoying is that I have modified kits in the past and not encountered this problem. The analyzer was sent for calibration with Agilent between then and now but I don't know of what other settings would have been changed to cause this.
Any ideas anyone?
