8757C vs 8757D passthrough

I have written code for the 8757D using an 83624A on the 8757 system interface.

when i substitute an 8757C for the D, anytime I attempt to extract data from the 83624A (such as the current power level for example) the bus timeouts. the same code works fine when using the 8757D.  i get the data when using the C, but i have to wait for the bus to timeout first, which really slows things down.

So i guess my question is, what is the difference between the C and D? on passthrough commands that attempt to extract data from the source

the C is firmware 3.2 and the D is (i think) 6.1

I'm using ni488.2
