I have an old HP 4195A Network/Spectrum Analyzer from the 80's and it is able to plot/sweep frequencies on a log scale. However, on my brand-spanking new N9020A, I cannot. It only plots/sweeps frequencies linearly. I find it very useful to see a large bandwidth at one time, which is only meaningful if the analyzer sweeps logarithmically. There has to be a reason this feature was not carried into the new models and I would like to know why. Am I the only one who sees this as a serious drawback?
Note: The E5052B SSA Signal Source Analyzer supports a logarithmic X-axis, so it's not like it's out of the question.
