Michael,
I noted from your examples that you have a space before the second colon. Not sure if that’s you problem, but it may simply be a syntax issue. Usually a space means it is going to expect data, not a command.
I would try :
“:FREQ:CENT?”
“:SYSTEM:COMMUNICATE:SOCKET 10000”
Then “, “:SYST:COMM:SOCK:CONN”
Hope that helps,
Gary

Andy,
I tried “Execute Remote”, Execute LOCK,..
Looking in the SCPI spec – I then tried “:SYSTEM :COMMUNICATE : SOCKET 10000; “, “:SYST :COMM :SOCK: CONN”
Still no luck. If I could just get the basic handshake down…

Hi Mike,
I have no experience with Anritsu analyzers but...
1. Have you tried an EXECUTE REMOTE as the first instruction (Direct I/O Read/Write/Execute/Wait) - or is there a command that looks like SYST:REM. Typically serial interfaced instruments required this or a syst:remote command to get them into remote mode. I can recall flaky behaviour from several serial interface instruments unless they they were really in remote. Just a thought...
2. Should “:FREQ :CENT?” not be ":FREQ:CENT?" ?? - or is that just a typo...
Good luck

Has anyone ever programmed an anritsu spec an in VEE? Specifically the MT8222A.
I am communicating over TCPIP / VXI-11/SCPI Protocol.
I can get the instrument to respond to “*IDN?” but I have to put in an extra token read to get rid of a double quote as it complains.
I can not get the instrument to respond to any other command though. “:FREQ :CENT?” Times out.
Using the anritsu s/w - when you connect to the instrument – it pops up an indicator “REMOTE” I can’t make this happen.
Any ideas? I’ve tried Anritsu tech support and they will get back to me….
Thanks,
Mike
