Hi all. Lately i have been programing the E8257D synthetizer. I'm trying to set a fixed frequency with the "freq:fix xghz" command, with "x" the frequency to set. I get a "data out of range" error. The command usually worked before, but now isn't working.
The synthetizer was repaired a few months ago, and now it has the latest firmware(c.06.16). We bought it about 2006 and probably the firmware wasn't upgraded up to this year. Could be a firmware problem then? Would be recommended to return to previous firmware? I'm using the same setup as before (when it was working), witht gpib-usb interface.
Thanks for any help.

We tried the command and it works fine. It is possible the entered frequency is exceeding the range on unit.
:FREQuency:FIXed
Supported All Models
[:SOURce]:FREQuency:FIXed
[:SOURce]:FREQuency:FIXed?
This command sets the signal generator output frequency , or increments or decrements the current
RF frequency setting.
UP Increases the current frequency setting by the value set with the
:FREQuency[:CW]:STEP[:INCRement] command found on page 125. The front panel
up arrow key performs the same function.
DOWN Decreases the current frequency setting by the value set with the
:FREQuency[:CW]:STEP[:INCRement] command found on page 125. The front panel
down arrow key performs the same function.
To set the frequency mode, see “:FREQuency:MODE” on page 119. For a listing of signal generator
frequency and power specifications, refer to “[:LEVel][:IMMediate][:AMPLitude]” on page 153.
Example
:FREQ:FIX 10GHZ
The preceding example sets the signal generator frequency to 10 GHz.
