vrf Using the mem:data command to upload a user file to and ESG signal generator

I was reading these mails again.  Dennis and I are using TCPIP; EOI option is available only under GPIB and not TCPIP.  I also checked the waveform size on my the hard disk and the ESG E4438C; it is exactly the same.  So, loading does not seem to be a problem.
 
I still have not figured out whether "-113: Undefined header" has any effect on execution or not.  My IO Libraries version is 14.2.8931.1
 
When I look up, About Agilent IO Control, I see the following:
 
                  Version 14.2.8931.1
                 Copyright Agilent Technologies 1983-2006
 
                 Agilent VISA:  Operating as secondary (installed as primary VISA but overwritten).
 
Could this be the reason for -113 errors?

Some suggestions from some vague rememberings….

 

I believe this may be related to an EOI being sent with the binary data steam. Uday,  you said the waveform plays correctly, but are you sure it’s the correct length?  Look at the file on the ESG.  If your binary stream contains a value of 10 or 0, this could trigger an EOI and then the subsequent binary data would look like an invalid header.    What IO libraries are you using?  If it’s NI, check the setting for EOI.

Hello,

 

I have a program that has been used since at least 2002 to upload a binary patterns to ESG series signal generators.  I tried to use it recently for the first time since upgrading to VEE 8.0.  I now get errors (on the signal generator) when I try to send the file to the instrument. It seems to receive the command OK, but then as soon as the first byte of data is transmitted, the signal generator give an "-113 invalid header" error.  Anyone familiar with loading patterns into signal generators?
