vrf Different .NET Versions

Question asked by VRFuser on Feb 11, 2008

Hi Herbert

Disclaimer: This is a guess. I have not tested it on VEE.

But i guess that you can use a configuration file to specify the runtime you want it to use.
This is the way you fix it when this problem arises in C# or other .NET languages.

Check this link:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/9w519wzk.aspx

<configuration>
<startup>
<supportedRuntime version="v1.1.4322"/>
</startup>
</configuration>

Hope this helps

Subject: [vrf] Different .NET Versions

Hello,

I have a problem, when changing from VEE 7 to 8. My programs dynamical loads a lot of VEE-libraries, depending on the environment where they running. In newer modules, I use functions that only available in VEE8 like "buildRecord", so that this modules must run in VEE 8 mode. This only works, when all of the loaded libraries also changed to VEE 8 mode. In the development this works fine, but in the runtime VEE crashes. The reason is, that the libraries original written in VEE 7 use .NET version 1.xx, the others written in VEE 8 use .NET  version 2.xx. Also some PCs have only VEE 8 Runtime and .NET version 2 installed.

To fix this problem I had to change the .NET version in all modules manually in a text editor.

Is there a easier way to make this change, when switching to VEE 8?
