vrf PSA Option 219 Noise Figure commands

Well,

 

The operating system is multithreaded, while VEE handles a single thread, unless what you are using is a multithreaded object.  Think of it this way, MS allows for mouse calls, multithreaded within the operating system, and VEE uses the windows object.  Now, with dot Net within VEE, if VEE is “well behaved”, a multithreaded object aught to work just fine.  My question, is why would I want to, if I may use a multi-threaded code?

The first one did not work but the second one works!

:DISPlay:NFIGure:TRACe:Y:SCALe:PDIVision? NFIG

 

I tried it on all three and that was what was needed.

 

I also tried the question mark at the end, which did not work.

:DISPlay:NFIGure:TRACe:Y:SCALe:PDIVision NFIG?

 

I guess I will markup my hard-copy.

Hi there

it's been a while, but I 'think' you may require either

:DISPlay:NFIGure:TRACe:NFIGure:Y:SCALe:PDIVision?

or

:DISPlay:NFIGure:TRACe:Y:SCALe:PDIVision? NFIG

 and similarly for the other results

 the first NFIGure refers to the option 219 so scpi still needs to tell it which measurement result to return PDIV for, hence the 'missing parameter'

the reason for the two possible queries is for backwards comaptability with previous instruments.

If I'm wrong - sorry to waste your time

It didn’t occur to me that there was a soft-copy update on the manual.

I guess from now on, with the Internet, I will always look at the soft-copy first before submitting.

 

Thanks again for the help on the calibration command problem.

 

The other three commands are the same as the hard-copy, so those are still un-resolved.

I tried with and without the leading colon and I tried the abbreviated command structure, with no change in the error status.

 

To further expand on the Noise Figure state, I do have the Measurement and Calibration ENR tables filled.

Here is the command to begin the calibration.  It’s a mistake in the manual.

 

"*OPC?;:SENS:NFIG:CORR:COLL STAN"

I do not know where to do a search on previously posted inquiries on this forum so I am sending this.

I am having a programming problem with four of the Noise Figure module programming commands.

My configuration is:

Agilent E4440A firmware:  A.09.19

Option 219 Noise Figure firmware:  A.01.09

 

All commands were sent while the E4440A was in Noise Figure Mode.

The corresponding commands for Setting of values worked fine.

 

SCPI command strings cut/pasted from code are:

":DISPLAY:NFIGURE:TRACE:Y:SCALE:PDIVISION?"                page 279

"DISPLAY:NFIGURE:TRACE:Y:SCALE:RLEVEL:VALUE?"         page 280

"DISPLAY:NFIGURE:TRACE:Y:SCALE:RPOSITION?"                page 281

        These all gave an error on the E4440A of:  -420 query UNTERMINATED and -109 Missing Parameter

Reference pages are from “Agilent ESA-E Series and PSA Series Spectrum Analyzers Noise Figure Measurement Personality Guide Option 219”

 

":SENS:NFIG:CORR:COLL:ACQ"              page 342

        This did not initiate a calibration sequence.

        Note:  noise source was not hooked up.  Calibration sequence can be initiated by the front buttons.
