AW: vrf Active X - GoTo function for moving to a bookmark

Question asked by VRFuser on Nov 13, 2007
This is what I use to put data into bookmarks.  I have 50 book marks in a document and this has worked for the past 2 years without a problem.  I use a .dot file so that I do not have to worry about users modifying the template.

ActiveDocument.FormFields("Text1").result = data

Hi Stephen,

I already tried to work with the bookmarks Collection, but I was only partially successful. If you want to use the MoveDown Command, this example might be a help for you. You can chose to move Lines (wdline), characters (wdcharacter) or cells (wdcell) in a table. wdextend means, that the line will be marked (wdmove if not). The count is the number of lines (or cells) the cursor is supposed to move (see attached).

But why don`t you just use the method "replace first". You can place a keyword or a sign in your document and make it in white colour, so that it is invisible. With "replace first" you can replace the keyword with a blank or with nothing and your cursor is where you want it to be.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Betreff: [vrf] Active X - GoTo function for moving to a bookmark

I am trying to use active x from Vee to move the cursor in word to a particular place in the document. From what I can tell, I have two options; either using bookmarks, or by using the movedown function.

However, I've tried both these options, and I am having trouble with the syntax. Using the bookmark example, with a bookmark named bm1, I am using the following function:

Selection.GoTo(ByRef What, ByRef Which, ByRef Count, ByRef Name);

But when I try filling in the what, count, and name, I get syntax errors. Also I don't know what the "which" means. Can anyone explain to me how to use this function?

I am having a similar problem with the movedown function.

Steve
