vrf panel size

Question asked by VRFuser on Nov 8, 2007
Yes, but these sub-functions always end up containing some support code in addition to the UI elements.  Would like to minimise code repetition.

Well, you can sorta do the same thing by having sub-functions with their own panels, I guess.

Nicer still would be if you could have more than one panel for each userfunction - choose which one you want to show when you call showPanel.  Then you could query the screen resolution and make full use of the available screen space.

i.e. showPanel(UFName, x, y, width, height, panelName)

Yes, that would be nice - and scale the fonts used too!

"...and then size the panel, and size and position each element on the panel."

If only the element's (object's) postion & size in the panel could be specified relative (proportional) to the size of the panel. May be as a percentage of the width & height...

...just my thoughts.

The difficulty isn't in resizing the panel, it's making everything on the panel scale with the panel itself, according the the current screen resolution.  VEE 8 now allows programmatic setting of object sizes, but I'm not sure if it does position (probably), so you would need to read the screen resolution out (you can use .NET), and then size the panel, and size and position each element on the panel.
