SA Error Message, SA Damaged By Excessive VDC

Dear Sir:

I own an Agilent spectrum analyzer, HP 8593E, and I would like to know what the typical error message says when one input an excessive amount of DC voltage at the SA input.

Typically, I would imagine that the repair technicians at Agilent often receive many SAs that have been damaged because a tech was troubleshooting a circuit but forgot that the SA he was using has a zero volt DC tolterance.

Can you tell me what error message would typically be displayed on the SA when this happens?

Also, if no error message is present on the display, how would one test to detect if the spectrum analyzer has been damaged by excessive DC voltage.

With regard to the HP 8593E  (which is rated for zero volts DC at the input) typically about how much DC voltage (or current) can this unit withstand before damage occurs?

        Thanks for your past feedback.
