I've read of a few people losing settings/calibration because of dead batteries in their 8594E. I thought I'd strike first & replace mine. I have the older model with the 023 option installed. Can anyone tell me what is the battery type in the unit so I can order one without having to open the case?
Thanks,
Joe

There were two batteries used in the 9xE products. If the serial prefix of the instrument is <3523A or in your case has a single I/O (023, RS-232) interface, the battery was physically located directly on the CPU board. The battery part number in this case is 1420-0331. This is a 3.6V Lithium battery. Agilent has stock of this battery, but may not sell directly to you. You may have to send your analyzer into Agilent to have the battery replaced.
If the serial prefix of the instrument is ≥3523A, the battery part number is 1420-0394. Since you have option 023, your serial prefix is probably <3523A. This battery was located on the dual I/O board. This battery can still be purchased through Agilent at http://www.agilent.com/find/parts The manufacturer’s part number is CR-2477/HFN. It is a 3 Volt battery and contains Lithium Manganese Dioxide.
