Read Peak Voltage from 34401A through GPIB interface

Question asked by raydude on Feb 28, 2013
I'm calibrating our product with a 34401A. The output of the device is an adjustable voltage / current 1KHz PWM power signal. To calibrate our voltage peak detect circuit I need to read the peak voltage from the meter. However, I cannot find a peak function in the meter manual or in the GPIB commands.

I tried the following, but this command hangs the GPIB interface
//    prologix->Send(std::string ("SENS:VOLT:PEAK:STATE ON\n"));

I have to believe there is an easy way to read peak voltage from the meter. Can anyone point me to documentation or code examples or just tell me the magic command to grab the peak voltage?

Thanks much,
