vrf ActiveX Memory leakage

Question asked by jvera on Mar 21, 2001
Hello Andrew,

I just had this same problem.  Yes, it is possible, though
the process is a little circuitous.  Read in your array of
values... i.e.

ExcelData = Sheet.Range(Sheet.Cells(3,2), Sheet.Cells(8,6));

Where "ExcelData" is an output pin on your formula block.  The
output pin data format is, for some reason, a record format with a
different field for element of the array.  Connect the "ExcelData"
output to a "To String" I/O transaction containing something like this:

WRITE TEXT a REAL FIX:2 EOL

The "To String" transaction output is connected to a
"From String" transaction containing something like this:

     READ TEXT x REAL ARRAY:6,5

This procedure is not without it's problems however... I tried to
read
in an entire spectrum analyzer trace previously exported to Excel
[ArraySize(401,1)], and found the resultant text string to be too long for
HP VEE 5.01 to handle.  Furthermore, some of the data points miraculously
acquired 8 significant digits.  For smaller arrays, this procedure works
fine,
but funny things start happening when the array gets large.

Regards,

Curtis

Subject: vrf data from excel

Hi all

Does anyone know if it is possible to bring data  from a specified area of
an excel sheet into vee as an array through the active-x medium. Also I
can't seem to get any of the paste special commands to work when takeing
them from a macro run in excel and using them in active-x with vee. Has
anyone found any code that works.

Thanks in advance
