Question: How to do a (linear) phase-continuous frequency sweep using a PLL-based source (for FM radar)?
Question: How to do a (linear) phase-continuous frequency sweep using a PLL-based source (for FM radar)?
Here are two methods:
a) Use an analog signal generator with ramp sweep capability, such as the E8257D PSG with option 007 (ramp sweep)
b) Use a vector signal generator with either a built-in baseband generator (BBG) or an external arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) driving the IQ inputs. You will need to create a swept frequency waveform and download it into the BBG or AWG.
