I have Agilent 5747A power supply and I like to operate it in current source mode. My question is how to set it in current mode besides setting current limit so it will flip to CC if the current is overlimit. I'd appreciate if anyone can give me advices.

You load is going to determine if the unit is in CV or CC mode. You set two parameters on the power supply, the voltage and a current limit. The power supply will always stay in CV until it hits the current limit and then go to CC (always following Ohm's law). For instance assume that we have a 1 Ohm load:
Case 1
Vset = 1 V and I set = 2 A. In this case, the unit will be in CV at 1 V sourcing 1 A.
Case 2
VSet = 5 V I set = 2 A. By Ohm's Law, with a voltage setting of 5 V, the current should be 5 A. Our current limit is only 2 A so the unit will be in CC sourcing 2 A at 2 V.
Let me know if this makes sense to you.
