vrf CNC Mill control

Question asked by WDrago on Oct 25, 2007
That depends on what you're machining. I wrote software in VEE that controls a 3-axis welder (bit-banged the steps to each motor via Measurement Computing DIO card). Since all we welded were squares and rectangles synchrony was not an issue.

The problem with controlling a mill is that both motors have to be stepped synchronously.  This is very hard to do in a Windows app.  The only way to get good smooth  control is to write a kernel level app that sits under windows to do the actual stepping.

Hi I have a small copmbined  lathe / Milling machine (EMCO Emcomat 7)

Has any one done two axis (XY) control of Mill using VEE. I have my own cards which control stepper motors via RS232 using a PC micro. If so any examples please?
