I have a E4422B i had for quite a bit, recently the unit started developing issues with the mainboard, buying a new mainboard is not a option because of cost
so i started to hunt for a parts unit, i found a E4420B with RF Problems so i figured i can take the mainboard from this one, it works however the serial# now doesnt match up and my 4422 only goes to 2GHz
I tried the mainboard utility but it wont let me change the serial# or the unit model, any suggestions on how to do this ? i asume that if the flash would be cleared that the mainboard utility would let me change the model and serial # so is this assumption correct and if yes how do i do this ?

1. Remove the motherboard from the instrument (refer to Service Guide for the instructions)
2. ON the existing motherboard, locate the two EEPROMs (U106 and U107) in the sockets. You may want to make each with a number or a letter to avoid confusion.
3. Using a IC extractor tool or very carefully remove each EEPROM to avoid damaging the IC legs.
4. The new motherboard should not have EEPROMs installed. If it does, remove them.
5. Transfer the two EEPROMs removed in Step2 to the new motherboard, making sure to place each IC in the correct socket. Ensure each IC is seated correctly.
6. Figure attached shows the two EEPROMS location.
I hope this helped.
